1st Vice COMMANDERS Message July 2017

Greetings everyone,

We here at Post 312 are happy to report: Everyone returned safe and more informed from our State Convention in Orlando. We are also very proud to report that one of our very own Terry Corson was elected State Commander along with us receiving to membership awards. One award was for "10% increase in membership" and the other for "New members increase over and above last years". We are continuing to move forward in all phases of our posts membership recruitment, post beautification, officer and auxiliary training to become more professional and constructive in a positive direction to demonstrate what AMVETS  does and will exemplify in the future. As always in the off season months things have slowed down but we are discussing and implementing new ideas to bring all numbers and members participation up. We are working on our own internal relationship between departments to bring everyone together as not to forget our basic cause "Helping Veterans" physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually through interaction, information and training.

AMVETS Post 312 is very active in our community involvement. This month we attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for ACHIEVA Credit Union sponsored by The Chamber Of Commerce in our own city of North Port. We interacted with Mayor Linda Yates , other city officials, banking officials and representatives of other major institutions within the city.

We also donated 252 boxes of Cheerios to the Salvation Army along with our Ladies Auxiliary adding $1,211.00 to refill the Salvation Armies food bank shelves which was extremely low.

We here at Post 312 appreciate all of our volunteers who have so unselfishly dedicated their free time and input into making us a better,  more joyful and serviceable  establishment for our guest and members. A very SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to two ladies who made have our job so much easier by volunteering their time and efforts every single day. We salute Marge Peczkowski and Marilyn Furfaro. Thank you so very very much. Your efforts and time have not gone unnoticed!!!!!!

July is going to be a very busy and eventful month as we are preparing for our 4th of July celebration. We are a prime spot to watch the fireworks from as we are located on the water and are able to see fireworks from all directions. Our campfire will be a flame to accomadate the roasting of hot dogs and smores, and other family type of enjoyment over the open fire and of course a verity of beverages are always avaliable so bring the family for a fun night out.

Every Friday Night is Prime Rib and Sea Food Buffet Night from 5 pm until 7 pm.

Saturdays are always busy with our OPEN JAM SESSIONS FROM 2 PM UNTIL 5 PM......bring your own instrument and join some SPECIAL GUEST in having a good time dancing, singing and showing you talents...............then stay on board for our AMVETS  HAM STEAK DINNER and dance to the music of Mike and Joe following the meal.

Looking forward to seeing everyone..............keep an eye on us.......more to come as we move through the month.

 yours in service,

 William E. Pitts
